The global production of lithium-ion batteries will increase enormously with the growing demand for electromobility and energy storage. The ecologically and economically efficient production of electrodes is therefore crucial.

A promising approach to achieving more cost- and energy-efficient battery production is the development of innovative processes for dry or low-solvent electrode production using twin-screw extruders.

This holds the potential for a considerable reduction in solvents while maintaining a high dispersion quality of the electrode pastes. In addition, an optimally adapted screw design can help to optimize the electrode structure, which leads to improved performance of the finished battery.
